These are the sugar cookies that I grew up on. My mom would make them every year along with Christmas Fudge to pass out to our friends and neighbors at Christmas time. They are the perfect Christmas cookie.
World’s Best Sugar Cookies
1 cup powdered sugar
1 cup granulated sugar
1 cup butter
1 cup vegetable oil
2 eggs, beaten
2 teaspoons vanilla
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon cream of tartar
1/4 teaspoon salt
5 cups flour
1/4 teaspoon salt
5 cups flour
Cream together sugars and butter.
Add oil and remaining ingredients.
Mix to combine.
Mix to combine.
Firm into small balls and place on parchment lined cookie sheet.
Press cookies with a fork.
Sprinkle generously with sugar.
Bake at 350 for 10 minutes.
Cool completely.
Enjoy!

Yum-O! I just made these today but I added tons of lemon zest and a little lemon juice… and topped them with yellow decorative sugar… lemony goodness!
These look and sound amazing! But I’m curious, would it be possible to make cut out cookies with this recipe or would it not work with the consistency of the dough?
I don’t think cut out cookies would work with this dough but I have never tried it so I can’t be sure. Let me know if you try :)

My friend gave me this same sugar cookie recipe about 22 yrs ago. This is absolutely the best cookie recipe! They taste like bakery cookies and Ive been baking these for the last 22 yrs. I put different toppings on them such as cinnamon, walnuts, m & m’s.

I think one recipe makes about 4 dozen.
Does the butter need to be at room temp, cool or cold?
Room temperature is best :)
