Magic Bars

My mom was not a gourmet cook. She was a good cook but definitely not gourmet. She cooked and she baked the very basics for our family. Magic Bars were a basic in our household. They required very few ingredients, minimal time and were always a hit. Now that my sister and I are grown, they have become a staple dessert in each of our houses as well. They are the “go to” dessert, if you will. Someone is having a potluck, a baby, a bad day… time to make some Magic Bars. They are fast, easy and delicious. Make some today :)

OMG! I always thought I was such a gourmet cook and everything you learned , you learned it from me. What about giving you fruit cocktail with your dinner each night to balance out your diet. You're still my doll even though my image has been shattered. You can make up for it this weekend by having some magic bars waiting for me.Love Mom

This has been my mom's go-to recipe for pretty much my entire life (and for years it's been mine too!). I don't do the butterscotch though.

These are ALWAYS a hit and they are great frozen too!!

Yes, your mom is a hoot. She loves puddin’ and I love pots de creme (wink). This is my husband’s favorite cookie. He calls them Hello Dollies. I call them Love in a bar.
